Meditation – the Innermost Heart of All

This is a set of guided meditation practices.

It is one of a selection on this site that we can discover and take up regularly if we wish to.

It is recommended that we choose a set of practices and stay with them for a given time. More on how and why to practice meditation regularly.

There are two versions:
– the full session including an introduction and guidance on each practice. It is warmly recommend to watch this one at least once in order to benefit most from the practices.
– a shortened version with the practices which could be followed repeatedly as a way of doing our own regular meditation.

This is the full session (36 minutes). Watching this at least once will help us gain most from the practices.

This is the edited version (22 minutes). A good way of doing our daily meditation would be to simply follow this recording.

If you have any thoughts or questions about the practices, you are welcome to be in contact.

Summary of the Practices

1. Inner preparation

We begin by inwardly expressing reverence for the higher teachings, and to the supreme power which is the source of all.
We sit with calmness and openness to the unseen reality which pervades all things. [About one minute.]

2. Breathing practice

Breathe a little more deeply and slowly, becoming aware of your breathing.
Then, as you breathe in, say inwardly, ‘I am light’, and as you breathe out, ‘I am free’. [Five minutes]

3. Visualisation

Bring your attention to the heart-centre. Imagine that there is the flame of a candle shining here. The flame is bright, upward pointing and still. Focus your mind on this flame. [Five minutes]

4. Meditation on a text

OM
I ABIDE IN THE INNERMOST HEART OF ALL.
I AM THAT PERFECT CONSCIOUSNESS
WHICH KNOWS NO COMING OR GOING.
OM

Repeat the text silently a few times until the meaning is grasped, then focus the attention on that. If the mind wanders off, firmly and gently bring it back to the text and the meaning. [Six minutes.]

5. Closing offering
